New UAE Immigration Requirement for DMCC Investor and Partner Visa Renewal: AED 50,000 Bank Balance for 6 Months

UAE immigration has introduced a new requirement for DMCC investor and partner visa renewals in Dubai. To renew, your company now has to show 6 months of statements from its UAE bank account (in some cases a foreign bank statement is accepted), with a balance of at least AED 50,000 in each of those months. For a new investor or partner visa, DMCC accepts a statement from a bank outside the UAE showing the equivalent of AED 50,000.

Nothing else in the renewal has changed. You need to be in the UAE, pass the medical and give biometrics for your Emirates ID. As of October 2026, DMCC government fees come to AED 4,418 and the standard process takes 5 to 6 working days.

What is the new immigration requirement for DMCC investor and partner visa renewals?

The bank statement check is a new requirement from UAE immigration. It confirms that the company behind an investor or partner visa has real money and real activity, not only a valid licence. At renewal, DMCC checks this through the company's bank statements.

Under the new requirement, as of October 2026, DMCC asks for:

  • statements for the last 6 months
  • from a bank account in the UAE, in the company's name
  • a balance of at least AED 50,000 in each of those 6 months
  • regular transactions in every month (preferably)

The balance has to be there across the whole period, not just on the day you apply. A company that held AED 5,000 for five months and received a top up last week does not meet the rule, even if today's balance is well above AED 50,000.

Is the rule different for a new DMCC investor visa?

Yes. For a first investor or partner visa, DMCC accepts a statement from a foreign bank showing a balance equivalent to AED 50,000.

The reason is practical. A corporate bank account in the UAE is normally opened once the signatory is a UAE resident with an Emirates ID (in some cases it is possible without a UAE residence visa), so a founder applying for a first visa usually has no UAE account yet. We explain the bank side in our guide on how to open a corporate bank account in Dubai.

The foreign statement is accepted mainly for the first UAE residence visa. At your first renewal, the new immigration requirement applies, and DMCC will want 6 months of UAE bank statements. So open the UAE account soon after your Emirates ID is issued and move enough money into it early, so the account has a full 6 month history at AED 50,000 or more before the visa expires. In exceptional cases, UAE immigration and DMCC may also approve a foreign bank statement for a renewal.

Who can hold a DMCC investor or partner visa?

The visa type depends on how the company is owned. As of October 2026:

  • Minimum share capital per individual shareholder: AED 50,000
  • Investor visa: the applicant must be the sole shareholder
  • Partner visa: up to 2 partner visas per company, and further limits may apply

The AED 50,000 share capital and the AED 50,000 bank balance are two separate rules. The share capital is set when the company is registered. The bank balance is the new immigration requirement, and it is checked in your bank statements at every renewal.

What documents does DMCC ask for at renewal?

  • Passport copy (the page with your photo and personal details)
  • Emirates ID copy, front and back
  • Current residence visa copy, as a PDF or a clear scan from the ICP or UAE Pass app
  • Recent colour photo, 35 x 40 mm, white background, not older than 6 months, at least 600 dpi
  • Proof of health insurance
  • Company licence and establishment card, valid for at least 1 more month
  • Company bank statements for the last 6 months from the UAE account, with at least AED 50,000 in each month (new immigration requirement)
  • Latest utility bill (DEWA or similar) in the visa holder's name

DMCC sets clear rules for the photo: head straight, eyes open, no coloured lenses, and glasses only if they do not reflect light or cover your eyes.

For InBusiness clients, the company licence and establishment card are already on file, so we do not need to ask you for them. DMCC publishes its current visa guidelines on dmcc.ae. Requirements can change, so check them again close to your application date.

How long does a DMCC investor visa renewal take?

5 to 6 working days with standard processing, or 3 working days with fast track. You need to be in the UAE from the application until the visa is issued.

  • Application submitted: 1 day. You must be in the UAE.
  • Medical exam: 1 to 2 days. You attend in person, and the Smart Salem VIP medical takes about 30 minutes.
  • Residence permit renewed: 3 days, or 2 days with fast track. You can leave the UAE once it is issued.
  • Emirates ID: ready about 4 working days after the visa is issued. You do not need to wait for it. We can keep the card until your next visit or send it to you.

How much does it cost to renew a DMCC investor visa in Dubai?

As of October 2026, the DMCC government fees are:

  • Residence permit renewal: AED 2,810.00
  • Insurance premium, 2 years (mandatory employee insurance policy): AED 306.60
  • Medical typing (Smart Salem VIP, 30 minutes): AED 825.00
  • Emirates ID typing: AED 476.40
  • Total government fees: AED 4,418.00

Extra costs, only if needed: fast track AED 2,000 and health insurance AED 887.

Our visa renewal service fee is AED 2,938 (USD 800) + VAT. If visa services are already part of your engagement agreement with InBusiness, we do not charge it separately.

What should you check 6 months before your visa expires?

Because the new requirement looks back 6 months, a top up only counts for the months after the money arrives. Money you add today will not fix the months that have already passed. So the date to plan around is not your visa expiry. It is 6 months before it.

  • Find your visa expiry date and count back 6 months.
  • Check that your UAE company account stayed at AED 50,000 or more in every month since then.
  • If any month was below AED 50,000, move funds now and keep the balance there until you apply.
  • Make sure the account shows normal business payments every month, not just one deposit.

How should you record money added to meet the AED 50,000 balance?

Money a shareholder moves into the company to keep the balance up is not income. In the company's books it is usually a shareholder loan or a capital contribution. Agree with your accountant or tax advisor which one it is before the transfer, and keep a short document that supports it, such as a loan agreement or a shareholder resolution.

The way it is booked affects tax. If the transfer is recorded as revenue by mistake, the company reports more profit than it made, and UAE Corporate Tax is calculated on that profit. A DMCC company that uses the 0% rate as a Qualifying Free Zone Person also needs audited financial statements, so the auditor will ask what the money is and where it came from.

How does InBusiness handle DMCC visa renewals?

We handle the whole renewal for you. We collect and check your documents, prepare and submit the DMCC portal forms, book the medical and arrange pick up and drop off, and coordinate the Emirates ID biometrics. You get a status update every day, and we deliver the visa documents and Emirates ID to you.

Many of our DMCC clients are commodity trading, shipping and holding companies. For clients whose books we keep, the monthly bank reconciliation already shows the UAE account balance at each month end, so our accounting and tax team can flag a shortfall months before the renewal, not the week before.

If your renewal is coming up, book a 30 minute call with our English or Russian speaking team, or send us a message on WhatsApp at +971 50 219 8443.

FAQ

What is the new bank balance requirement to renew a DMCC investor visa in Dubai?

At least AED 50,000 in each of the last 6 months, in the company's UAE bank account. This is a new requirement from UAE immigration for investor and partner visa renewals, in place as of October 2026. The statements must be in the company's name, and regular transactions every month are preferred.

Can I use a foreign bank statement for a DMCC investor visa?

Mainly for a new visa. For a first investor or partner visa, DMCC accepts a statement from a foreign bank showing the equivalent of AED 50,000. For a renewal, DMCC asks for 6 months of statements from the company's UAE bank account. A foreign bank statement may be accepted for a renewal too, but only with exceptional approval.

Is it enough to have AED 50,000 in the account on the day I apply?

No. The balance needs to be at least AED 50,000 in each of the last 6 months. A top up just before the application does not cover the earlier months, so plan at least 6 months before your visa expires.

What is the minimum share capital for a DMCC investor or partner visa?

AED 50,000 per individual shareholder. For an investor visa, the applicant must be the sole shareholder. A DMCC company can have up to 2 partner visas, and further limits may apply.

How long does a DMCC investor visa renewal take in Dubai?

5 to 6 working days with standard processing, or 3 working days with fast track. You need to be in the UAE until the visa is issued. The Emirates ID is ready about 4 working days later, and InBusiness can keep it until your next visit or send it to you.

How much does a DMCC investor visa renewal cost?

As of October 2026, DMCC government fees are AED 4,418: AED 2,810 for the residence permit, AED 306.60 for the 2 year insurance premium, AED 825 for medical typing and AED 476.40 for Emirates ID typing. Fast track costs AED 2,000 extra. The InBusiness service fee is AED 2,938 (USD 800) + VAT, unless visa services are already included in your engagement agreement.

How should money added to meet the AED 50,000 balance be recorded?

As a shareholder loan or a capital contribution, not as revenue. If it is booked as revenue, the company reports more profit than it made, and UAE Corporate Tax is calculated on that profit. Agree the treatment with your accountant or tax advisor before the transfer.
